Duet Пьетро Гаэта (Pietro Gaeta) и Сильвио Де Понте (Silvio De Ponte), сокращенно Dp&G*****, известен в мире архитектуры и дизайна так же широко, как D&G в мире моды. Архитектор и, по его собственному выражению, тотальный дизайнер Пьетро Гаэта talked about his work in a team and on the side

Who started his career as an assistant with the legendary Alessandro Mendini, Пьетро Гаэта worked with ALESSI, FRIGHETTO, SWATCH, PHORMA, worked on the post of art director of companies SIGN и СANAL STREET, а в прошлом году в составе Dp&G***** создал для фабрики COLOMBOSTILE The New Essentials collection, which has become one of the highlights of the Milan furniture salon.

SALON: Pietro, tell me please, are you a man of the past or the future? What inspires you more - creations of the past centuries or the invention of a new time?

 - I would say that in general I have a romantic approach to creativity, with a large share of humor and irony. Citing the past has become one of the favorite methods of updating the appearance of familiar things. My choice is the style mix, coupled with advanced production technologies. create some trans-temporary cocktail. Maybe that's why my favorite movie is Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner".

S: What is your relationship with fashion? How objective, in your opinion, are trends and should they be followed?

 - I love fashion and follow the trends in the field of music and painting, but at the same time I think that designer things must carry an ethical message and live long, and in fashion the life cycle of a thing is limited to one season - there is something to think about ...

S: The general public you are better known as a furniture designer, but you are also an interior designer. Please tell us about especially memorable projects.

 - I had to work in many countries, including Russia. But what I remember most of all was my work with Silvio on the interiors of the palace for the royal family in the United Arab Emirates. The motto of this project was "Nothing is impossible." At some point, I began to lose touch with reality - I did not know where the fairy tale ends, and where life begins. We managed to embody our wildest ideas in many respects because our direct customer was a young, well-educated sheikh, with an excellent sense of humor and well versed in art.

S: What did you learn from working with Italian design master Alessandro Mendini?

 - I entered the University of Architecture in Florence, struck by the work of avant-gardists from the group "Memphis", of which Mendini was a member. In the seven years that I was lucky to work with him, I fully understood his philosophy of total design, according to which a thing should appeal to all five human feelings. And most importantly, he taught me that furniture is also architecture, but architecture of small forms.
