SALON: Why did you not go on the "classical" way? Don't you like traditional solutions? Natalia Eliseeva: I have nothing against the classics, but in this case the “non-classical” space was set: rather low ceilings (maximum 2.90) plus the asymmetry due to the configuration of the house that was cut with infinite angles. Art Deco style seemed more appropriate to me. He provided a wide range of all possible forms of retro, which satisfied customers, and served as an impetus for individual solutions ...S: And in a constructive relation, what were the tasks set before you? - It was necessary to form a living space of two separate apartments, one above the other. To do this, they made an opening in the ceiling and connected the levels with a two-flight ladder. The core of the ground floor was the front area, consisting of a dining room and a living room with an adjacent owner’s office and kitchen. The master and guest bedrooms are located on the second floor (private part), while the second-level hall was conceived as a home bar and, if necessary, could become part of a public area. S: Are there any stylistic differences between front and private interiors? - In general, we tried to beat different sides of Art Deco in different premises. The style of the "Chicago" cabinet, rational, graphical, solidly representative, is very different from the ornamental delights (which came to Art Deco from modern) of the living room or, for example, the flight of stairs. And if the master bedroom with a lilac-pink canopy causes some romantic, "Hollywood" associations, then in the guest bedroom, we used bold color contrasts and even ethnic motifs. S: What about the exotic materials that Art Deco is so inclined to? “Of course, we used rare woods, expensive decorative marble, mother-of-pearl, crocodile skin in accessories and furniture, and rock crystal in lamps and stained-glass windows. But neither in the forms nor in the materials, we did not try to follow exactly Art Deco. 20-30s yo Rather, we sought to create a kind of “memory” of a style that is so clearly oriented towards the individual, which denies everything that is continuous and which connects the incompatible. Natalia Eliseeva: "Our interior is focused on individual taste and a specific context. In the style we relied on Art Deco, because this style, like no other, can change with the artist's imagination."
