Tatyana Mironova and Valery Chugunov, heads of the design bureau Mosproject-3, come up with apt names for their spaces. For example, "Extrapolation". The architects explain what they meant by endowing the apartment with such an unusual name.Valery Chugunov: From the point of view of mathematics, extrapolation (as it is explained by the dictionaries) is “finding, by a series of given values ​​of a function, its other values ​​that are outside this series”. For us, extrapolation is the creative development of a spatial theme that we have recently been developing.Tatyana Mironova: For example, we often build our interiors on the contrast of dark and light, we play with levels, light, we use decorative motifs, which can be called Japanese. This apartment is endowed with common features that distinguish the author’s style of our architectural bureau, and at the same time it is special. I would say, in a sense, mathematical. Pay attention to the rhombus in the floor and ceiling drawing, organizing the hall space. Directly opposite the entrance to the apartment, in the center of a large rhombus, we located the so-called family celebration zone. It is not identical to the dining room (which is located in the same room with the kitchen). Behind the swing doors, to which the "tops" of the rhombus "point", are the living room and the office (on one axis) and the hall of private chambers (on the other axis). From this hall you can get into the bedroom of parents, the nursery and the bathroom.VH: The bathroom in this apartment is large (even larger than the bedroom). I think that this room today has become one of the main things in the house. Such a bathroom status requires. For us, the functionalism and aesthetics of this room are embodied in beautiful geometric shapes and spectacular engineering solutions. For example, the floor in the shower has a completely invisible angle of inclination: the water disappears, and where it is not clear. The round bath is on a square podium, the floor is decorated with contrasting rectangles ... The bedroom is adjacent to the bathroom, we made it in the form of an octahedron. This is another “mathematical” solution that was suggested to us by the form of a bay window, which was simply “completed” to a regular geometric shape.TK.ash .: The ceilings in this apartment are located on different levels. Suspended lights, respectively, then shortened, then lengthened. The tulle curtains in the bedroom of the customers were strengthened so that the direction of the fabric could be varied relative to the bed, folds or knotted ... Why? It seems that we were just fascinated by the game, the rules of which we invented ourselves.Tatyana Mironova: "Despite the rather recognizable author's style, each of the apartments we made has its own face. We even gave some of them names. For example, the Apartment of a Bachelor or the Palazzo del Ponto." It seems to us that this mathematical term accurately denotes its essence. "
