Decorator Martin Lawrence Bullard designs celebrity houses. This modest abode in Hollywood — his own

Martin Lawrence Bullard — an impressive list of customers, among them, Cher, Elton John, Edward Norton, and other celebrities. Martin came to Hollywood to become one of them. And he became. True, not quite in the capacity in which it planned. He was going to act in films, studied at an acting school. And then he became interested in interior design, and a new passion overshadowed the old one. He bought a house in Hollywood for several reasons. First, “go to work close” (his clients live nearby). Secondly, the house used to belong to a whole galaxy of stars, one might say, it contained the entire history of American cinema. The mansion was built in the early 1920s for the brilliant silent film actor Rudolfo Valentino, at one time he belonged to Gloria Swenson, then, when the writer, William Faulkner, was the writer. A kind of museum. The memory of this glorious past, Martin has preserved in old photographs.

Everything else, he completely remade and continues to make changes periodically, experimenting with new techniques and palette that enthrall him at the moment. The last reconstruction began with small things: he decided to “refresh” the living room. As a result, came to the demolition of the walls. Martin even took the park. He produces furniture under his brand, and he wanted to see how the new items fit into the interior (such a “sketch – application” in the walls of his own house).

Martin focused on ethnic decor. In the design of the bedroom, office, lounge there are notes of Moroccan style. The same with the garden. The decorator used the author's designs: textiles with distinctive prints and furniture in the Maghreb style. Another story played in the design of the main living room. Martin applied a complex combination of different shades of gray. He says that he tried to create an image of the castle in the art-deco style, no matter how phantasmagoric it sounds. First of all, he replaced the glamorous fireplace of the 1970s with the magnificent marble marble of the 18th century. The furnishings are made up of furniture made according to his sketches and reminiscent of the works of French masters: Jacques – Émil Roulmann and Andre Arbus. The decorator's recent hobby is fashion business. Now he creates not only interiors and furniture, but also men's clothing. Watch for portfolio updates!
