Right in front of Nashchokin's house (where Pushkin once stayed), the Chandelier art-cafe opened in an old Moscow mansion (Vorotnikovsky per., D. 11, p. 1). On the walls are ancient mirrors and frames, engravings with architectural drawings of the 19th century, a collection of coffee grinders and antique candlesticks on the tables. As the designer Lilia Chuprina explains, “the name of the cafe is in no way connected with the chandelier itself; it is a place where you can get together and where everyone will get a ray of light.” Although it is impossible to detract from the dignity of the main participant of the interior, the general atmosphere of sophistication and aristocracy without frills makes one pay attention to other objects of this almost domestic institution.
