Hotel Mandarin Oriental is located in the building of a medieval monastery, the foundation of which dates back to the XIV century. Now in the buildings that have preserved medieval architectural elements (vaulted ceilings, for example), there are rooms, suites, restaurants and a SPA hotel. The best room is a two-story Presidential suite located in the tower that once served as a guard. From the top floor of the suite, where the living room is located, a panoramic view of Prague opens: the windows face three sides, there is also a large terrace, where in the spring (which is much warmer than Moscow’s in Prague) and in the summer it is customary to hold a cocktail party. Oriental and Lazar suites are also good: they occupy former monastic premises with medieval vaulted ceilings, striking in their height.
The same architectural beauty can be admired in the Essensia restaurant, while at the same time trying traditional Czech or Asian dishes (remember that Mandarin Oriental hails from the East) cuisines prepared under the guidance of chef Jiri Stif. Medieval architecture has been preserved in the SPA hotel, which can be accessed via an underground passage that was once a secret corridor. In the SPA, emphasis is placed on Asian practices, for example, Thai massage.
