For a small Riga family, this apartment has become a place for a relaxing holiday. The apartments are located in an old house built next to the sea. They are modernly decorated, comfortable, and there is even a full-fledged SPA
The house where the apartment is located is built on the Baltic coast, in the Latvian city of Liepaja. This is a historic mansion, it looks very similar to the old Jurmala houses - it is made of wood, in the traditional Baltic style. The Riga family, for which the apartments were created, saw in it an ideal place for their new apartment, in which she could come to rest. Their home is located on the second floor. In its place there used to be several different apartments at once, but after reconstruction they were turned into a single space. Architect Krista Strelita-Strele designed the interior in a modern way. She used innovative materials and technologies, chose all the newest and at the same time the most natural. There is a lot of wood that has preserved its attractive natural pattern. The flooring is made of solid wood, individual pieces of furniture, and the wooden beams supporting the roof define the look of the kitchen. They opened in the process of reconstruction. They were restored and made part of the overall design decision. In addition to wood, special stone tiles were used. This is a natural and very thin material, its thickness is only two millimeters. Black stone and rich brown wood are effectively combined with each other. On this combination, for example, built a design of a public area, which included a kitchen, dining room, living room and fireplace. The center of the space here was the fireplace, arranged in place of the old stove. It became part of a rectangular structure, which is lined with stone tile already mentioned. In the same volume built-in TV and audio system. So the whole home life revolves around it.
Another equally important room of the apartment is a bathroom with a sauna, a hot tub and a shower with color and aromatherapy. The owners use it very actively. For them, it became the center of a relaxed and peaceful life, the need for which prompted them to purchase this apartment.
Project author Krista Strelita-Strele: “The apartments are located on the second floor of an old wooden house. They appeared here instead of several apartments, which after reconstruction were merged. I wanted to make the apartment modern and comfortable, so I used the most modern, but at the same time only natural materials ”
