Cannes Film Festival - one of the main events of May. In May Cannes, any counter can be Brad Pitt, and any counter can be Penelope Cruz. Most often they come across the red carpet and ... at the Hotel Martinez. For more than 50 years, it has been considered a good form among the celebrity public to dwell here.

But once Cannes were just an ordinary fishing village. But the place was chosen by the Parisian bohemian, secular characters followed her, and now Cannes is the most fashionable resort on the Cote d'Azur. The logical continuation of the Bohemian history was the opening of the film festival here in 1946.

Settlement along the embankment was considered prestigious in the XIX century. It was then that a luxury villa was built here with the name “Coquette” in the spirit of the resort Riviera. In 1874 it was bought by the Neapolitan monarch Francis II of Bourbon, rebuilt and re-named on the crowned harmony - Villa "Maria Theresa". After half a century, the villa attracted Emmanuel Martinez. He did not intend to live here - at this place he decided to build the largest hotel on the entire French Riviera.

Thus began the triumphal history of Martinez. Its opening took place on February 17, 1929. Real fame came to the hotel in 1946, when the first international film festival was held in Cannes.

The stars got into the habit of staying at Martinez, and the festival organizers have to organize all sorts of events here. So, in the restaurant La Palme d’Or, marked, by the way, by two Michelin stars, meetings of the Cannes Film Festival jury, gala dinners honoring the winners and simply star gatherings take place. Regular guest of the hotel Gerard Depardieu often looks into the kitchen to cook something under the guidance of the chefs of the hotel. The famous director David Lynch, a big fan of La Palme d’Or, did use one of the restaurant’s recipes in his film.

Recently, the interiors of the hotel have been updated and improved. The works were supervised by decorator Gilles LeBorn. His creative credo - the harmony of exquisite materials, light and volumetric textures - was reflected in the interior appearance of Martinez. Luxury apartments, especially on the “Seventh Heaven” (as the joke is called the seventh floor in the hotel), are sunlit from morning to evening. And the sun and the sea - in addition to cinema - the main characters of the Cannes story.
