Three buildings of different eras are combined into one hotel. The most modern and simple - Danielino - was built in the 50s of the last century. About two hundred years older - Casa Nuova. But the main thing is Palazzo Dandolo, the palace built in the XIV century for the family of Dandolo, the famous Venetian family, to which belonged the four Doge

While the republic flourished, the Dandolo family flourished. There were in it the great commander Enrico, who conquered Constantinople in 1204, the famous historian and writer of the mid-19th century, Count Tullio, several Venetian rulers, and even one Russian philologist and translator George, who in 1747 made up the Russian-Latin-Italian-French lexicon. By the beginning of the XIX century, when Venice finally lost its independence, the palace was divided among several family members. Life in the palace changed after one Giuseppe Dal Niel became interested in them. In 1822 he took one floor of the palace to turn it into a hotel. The idea was so successful and profitable that in 1840 Dal Niel bought not only this floor, but the whole palace and called it the Royal Hotel Danieli. (Danieli is an anagram of the owner’s name.) A little time passed, the hotel expanded again and occupied the next building, and then the third one was built. Now all three are connected by bridges and junctions.

Since the Palazzo Dandolo allowed guests to live there, many famous people have been striving to live in it. The hotel stayed Charles Dickens, Marcel Proust, Richard Wagner. Room number 10 is still called the apartment of Aurora Dudevan (better known as George Sand) and Alfred de Musset. Not passed by and the ubiquitous Hollywood stars. Danieli liked Harrison Ford, Elizabeth Taylor and Steven Spielberg.

Before becoming part of the large Sheraton Luxury Collection hotel chain in 1995 (it is now owned by Starwood Properties), Danieli was the property of a very interesting figure who played a role in the political history of the 20th century. He was owned by an imam of the ancient Ismaili sect, a multimillionaire Aga Khan IV Karim, who was given the title of "Royal Highness" by the Shah of Iran and the British Queen. Karim loved this wonderful hotel and personally assembled a collection of antique Murano glass chandeliers that decorated the luxurious atrium courtyard through which guests enter the old part of Danieli.

The main charm of the hotel is, of course, the historical interiors of the Palazzo Dandolo, built in the style of Venetian Gothic. Its lush decor with an abundance of pink marble ornaments, carved pillars and arches, gilded ceiling beams, huge mirrors, fireplaces and magnificent antique furniture from different eras seem to be a decoration for some kind of opera. It is not surprising that in 1630 the first Venetian opera was located in this palace. A more modest part of the hotel - Casa Nuova - designed in the spirit of the Venetian baroque. A modern hotel building - Danielino - sealed the unity of historical styles by the French Empire style.

Carried away by the study of amazing interiors, do not forget that the windows are the best views of the best of the cities. To enjoy them completely, you need to climb the roof of the hotel to the Terrazza restaurant and make sure that there is no other panorama like this in Venice.
