The yacht Arkley was built on the famous German shipyard Lrssen mediated by Imperial Yachts. The interior, striking a variety of materials and textures used, was created by the famous English designer Mark Berryman.

Arkley has four decks (plus one in the underwater part of the ship) and, accordingly, many spacious comfortable cabins. Such diversity is a big problem for a designer, because the interior should have some kind of integrity, and at the same time each cabin should have its own face. “I solved this task due to the balance of textures and rare materials. You may notice that the same types of finishes, the same elements are repeated in different interiors, but always in new versions. Honestly, I do not like the idea of themed spaces. It is important for me that a person, in whatever cabin he is, always has the feeling that he is on the Arkley yacht, and not somewhere else, ”says Mark Berryman. Stylistic unity is achieved through the use of light materials - European oak and beige fabric, which are covered with walls. A complex, embossed pattern on wooden surfaces, which the designer called the “Arkley Wave”, became a common, repetitive element of the decoration.

Designing the interiors of the master bedroom and office, Mark Berryman expanded the interior palette by adding zebra wood and a combination of bamboo fibers with woven leather. “These are“ tactile ”textures and finishes that are very pleasant to the touch,” says the designer. The principle of tactility is embodied not only in the decoration of the walls, but also in the design of objects, and even in the arrangement of accessories. For example, in the cabin on the upper deck there is a table, the frame of which is made of stained oak, and the surface is covered with hand-skinned cowhide. “The visual image is, of course, important. But for me, tactile sensations are no less significant. when people do not just look at the interior, but truly live in it, touch it, travel around it, opening it from new, unexpected sides, ”explains the author of the interior.
