"He is a young businessman, she is an architect girl. They meet at the exhibition and ..." Further, the script of the film with such a beginning can develop as you please, but at the end of a happy ending. In the history of this Riga apartment, a young businessman acts as the customer, and the architect Ilona Weiwade creates a script for the interior

The Latvian architect tells how it was possible to create the feeling of a solid space in this interior. Ilona Weiwade: “We met with the customer at the exhibition. I participated in the design of the exhibition space, so that the future client could immediately understand what style I work and how I think. After talking, we realized that we had a lot in common, we were“ on one wave ". Therefore, it was easy to make this apartment for him. I kind of played the role of a teacher, taught me to look at the interior differently. Now my customer, entering any room, evaluates him as a professional.

My main task here was to leave the most free single room. Therefore, I began by removing almost all the internal walls. At the top of the only remaining partition separating the spacious living room with kitchen from the bedroom and bathroom, made an insert of transparent glass. Thus, it was possible to avoid the feeling of a closed space, because visually the wall does not reach the ceiling. Sliding doors are also made of glass, but a film with a pattern is applied to it. I really like this technique now - in my studio the doors are decorated in this way too. On the one hand, the thing is functional, and on the other - it looks like a picture in the interior.

Another decorating technique - relief surfaces. The customer wanted to see as many texture combinations as possible. Both of us like the look of plastered concrete, and I was going to leave the concrete ceiling of the ceiling in a natural way. But since they didn’t look very interesting, we stopped at their imitation of plaster.

In general, minimalism is close to my customer, but not emasculated, when everything is in one color, but bright - that's why I added blue in the bedroom. Blue is very beautiful, but in the bedroom for such an active color space is not large enough. Therefore, here only one corner of the room was blue, as an accent. I myself love light colors more. If I had designed this apartment for myself, I would have made everything just bright.

The style of this apartment is difficult to determine. Two things are important to me. First, the functionality of the room. And secondly, the walls, the light, the location of the furniture should not dictate to the person how to live. He will create his own world - I just put accents. And the person lives on as he likes. The main thing is to choose everything with taste. I myself would love to live in this apartment. "

Ilona Weiwade:"My principle in working on the interior is not to create unnecessary boundaries within a single apartment space. The task of the room is only to protect a person from the cold of the street. Inside there should not be small compartments, only functionally necessary rooms. Better one room, but big. by the customer. "Accessories for shooting provided by Alan Deko
