Interior designer Barbara Zelenetskaya recreated the atmosphere of an apartment era in a Moscow apartment ar-deko

The apartment is located in Moscow, in a house on the Sparrow Hills, but it would organically look on the last floor of a high-rise building in the very center of Manhattan. The design of the apartment reminds of the times when the big bands of Glen Miller and Duke Ellington played on the stages of the New York clubs. Barbara Zelenetskaya Although she designed the apartment according to modern minimalist canons, but she made a strong emphasis on style. ar-deko (in its American interpretation). The interior is monochrome, it is dominated by brown, there are rare patches of burgundy and beige. Instead of parquet, for example, a board made of solid wood, tinted under wenge was used. Under the floor - dark velvet curtains on the windows, dark furniture and doors. With this background contrasting light sofas, armchairs and lamps shining with chrome. One of them is made in the image and likeness of a movie projector. According to Varvara, this lamp has a special task - to keep in touch with the place where the apartment is located (next door is the Mosfilm studio).

Another interesting element of design - abstract painting, which is decorated with the walls of the apartment. Her stories came up with the mistress herself. Together with the author of the project, she approved the sketches, and a professional artist turned them into real paintings. As Varvara Zelenetskaya says, these abstract compositions have a lot in common with how the apartment looks on paper. Broken patterns echo the somewhat illogical structure of space, which can be seen if you look at the plan. Designed apartment for two people, but there are two large guest rooms. Living room, dining room with kitchen, hall are in the same volume. Due to this, the dwelling looks more spacious. The panoramic view, which opens from the windows of the apartment to the capital, further enhances this feeling.

Project author Barbara Zelenetskaya: “In spirit, this is a New York apartment. It resembles the apartments of the first American skyscrapers. In it, everything is associated with Manhattan. And from the windows there is a stunning panoramic view of Moscow, as the house is high-rise, and it was built on the Sparrow Hills, one of the highest points of the capital ”
