The idea of the project was suggested by the books: the customers had a large library, which was to find a place in a new apartment. “There were rare antique editions, collected works of Soviet times, modern art albums. I suggested mixing different periods in the interior, ”recalls designer Olga Shapovalova. - We wanted to create the feeling that not only people came here. And it seems as if the family lives here, several generations of which gradually lined up the interior: there are antiques, something from the 1950s – 60s, but also the actual design: Nika Zupants, Marcel Wanders, Lee Brum. ” In the living room the place of honor was taken by the portrait of the hostess of the great-grandfather - a family heirloom, which is more than a hundred years old. Different layers of time coexist in harmony, their "seamless" connection requires special craftsmanship from the designer. The age of this interior is impossible to determine. So, it is waiting for a long life.

Living room. Sofa, diz. R. and E. Burullek, Ligne Roset. Tables, diz. N. Zupants, Sé London. Vintage cards purchased at flea markets. Curtains Pierre Frey. Children's Maisons du Monde bed. Little table Gubi. Floor lamp, carpet: vintage (Reapet Story). Kitchen set according to the draft author’s sketches. Table Tonin Casa, chairs in covers from Pierre Frey fabric. Chandelier, diz. Lee Broome, Lee Broom.

This is the second project by Olga Shapovalova, a decorator in the English Quarter. Customers turned to it after seeing the first one: they were convinced that even with such a difficult initial layout (the apartment has the shape of a quarter circle) you can create something harmonious. The bedroom of the parents and two children was given the correct, comfortable to stay, rectangular shape. Radius wall went to the living room, combined with a kitchen-dining room. Also 120 square meters. m managed to arrange two bathrooms, dressing room. Due to the irregular shape of the apartment, almost all the cabinet furniture was made to order.

Parents bedroom. The bed is made according to the sketches of the author of the project, the headboard in the fabric Pierre Frey. Tables Eichholtz. Lamps bells, diz. M. Wanders, Moooi. Living room. Fireplace portal, mirror, chandeliers - antiques brought from Paris. Armchairs Arflex, diz. M. Zanuzo. The library is made according to the sketches of O. Shapovalova. In the hall you can see the modern Quasar chandelier. In the lobby above the piano work of D. Barybina. Chair: Vintage (Reapet Story).

Customers had a collection of paintings and graphics, so the designer offered to make a neutral background: paint the walls in a cold grayish tint, on which any piece would look good. And so that the interior did not look dull, the monochrome decided to dilute with bright accents. So there was a blue headboard in the bedroom, sunny yellow chairs in the living room. Chairs - a classic design of the 1950s, Marco Zanuzo designed them for the Italian factory Arflex. The model is called Senior, she is not as “promoted” as the Lady of the same author, similar to her, but no less attractive.

Bedroom. On the vintage dresser (Reapet Story) the work of D. Barybina and Chinese antique ceramics. The walls are painted with Benjamin Moore paint. Oak parquet laid French tree and artificially aged.

To support the impression of “a house with a story” (that is, one where the family has been living for several decades), oak parquet was ordered, which was specially aged. Moreover, arranging a housewarming party, the customer asked all the ladies to come on their heels — in this natural way, the flooring acquired the desired wear and tear. For the same reason, the table was chosen with “traces of time”. This concept also has a practical advantage: when a thing does not initially look new, damage is not perceived as a disaster. What is especially important in the house where there are children.

Olga admits that she is interested in fashion trends in design, but applies them in doses: they quickly lose their relevance and thus give an age at home. Since the apartment is located in the residential complex "English Quarter", it was important that the internal content is consistent with the facade. However, there was no desire to reproduce the “English style”. Much of the furnishings brought from France. In particular, the fireplace portal, mirrors, and various lamps were purchased at Parisian flea markets.

“I try to make such interiors so that even after ten years, people do not think that it needs to be radically changed. I prefer something proven by time. "
