Shining objects astrid krog

Astrid Krogh - master of light objects and luminous fabrics. Few artists are so fluent in the language of light, and Krog manages to recreate or rather imitate many natural phenomena with the help of light.

Born in Denmark in 1968. After graduating from the textile department at the Danish School of Design in 1998, Krogh opened her own studio. Krog worked with fiber, weaving its first luminous fabric. She liked to watch how the fabric, changing the color and strength of the glow, changes the space around. Krog could make an installation that evokes the same feelings as the contemplation of the sunset in nature or the northern lights.

“I used light as a material and as technology. Light is an essential component of my work. It causes surfaces to vibrate, change patterns and create spectra of changes in the original color. Old tapestries or ancient Kelim often serve as a point of reference, for centuries the threads changed their original color, from a distance it seems that you see a certain color of every detail, however, when you come closer, your eye can distinguish whole color spectra there, ”Astrid Krogh says.

Astrid Krog periodically collaborates with architects and industrial designers, receives government orders for installations for public spaces. Her art is well-known and her works from famous retailers, like the Longchamp store and Printemps department store in Paris, order her. In 2015, she made a project for the Central Bank of Denmark and recently completed work at the Royal Hospital in Stockholm. Astrid Krog's clients include such well-known companies as Mærsk, Velux and Coloplast. She made installations for the Danish Parliament, the Royal Danish Library, the Danish State Railway, the Dutch National Health Board and several Norwegian government institutions.
