The interior of the St. Petersburg furniture salon "Rigonda" (Lermontovsky Prospect, 42) before the reconstruction was a rectangular space divided by a low partition, with a marble floor and a ceiling made of perforated yellow metal squares. The architects began to search for a new image of the store, based on the wishes of the customer - to keep the floor and ceiling unchanged. Almost immediately an image ... of the road. The furniture travels from sunny Italy to the rainy shores of the Neva, hence the silver ceilings and walls with the active texture of the wheel tracks. The overall idea of the movement is underlined by transparent lattice podiums, giving the furniture standing on them some airiness, a sense of flight, mobility, typical of modern design. The architects wanted to create an unusual interior, advantageous for the furniture exposition, but at the same time giving the buyer a happy opportunity to distract from stereotypes.
