If it's cold outside and it is raining, you can play a game or just keep fit with the help of ... a virtual golf simulator at the Kimberly Land Sports Center. Necessary invention: such an aristocratic sport, which is golf, simply cannot depend on the vagaries of the weather

How it works: you hit a regular ball with an ordinary club. After hitting the screen, the real ball bounces back (slightly), and its virtual counterpart continues its digital flight — 64 infrared sensors, which transmit information to the computer, follow the initial flight path. And the moment of hitting, when a real ball “turns” into a virtual one, it is almost impossible to notice. A high-speed computer accurately calculates the behavior of virtual objects: the ball falls, jumps, and even spins according to the laws of physics.

On the screen, using a projector (PANASONIC PT LC76 E) with high resolution, famous golf courses are modeled. Field images were compiled based on topographic measurements, photographing, and GPS satellite data. The relief of the virtual field coincides with the real prototype to the smallest details. The system has individual settings. For example, so that the shadow of a high player does not fall on the screen, we use a projector with a short-focus lens. The cost of the basic set of equipment is about 2 million rubles. "

Svetlana Afanasyeva, coach, two-time Russian golf champion "There are two sites. One of them is a training putting green (a place where they work out the final blow by rolling the ball into the hole) with ten holes, artificial grass and uneven terrain. The second is the simulator itself. On the screen you see a golf course. The corner of the screen shows the number, the plan of the current hole, the distance to the flag. As soon as one field was played and the ball hit the hole, a new view opens on the screen - the next field (there are 18 fields). You can vary the game on the simulator by changing the height of the grass on the green ( the ball will roll faster or slower) or and "including the wind" - the computer takes into account the deviation of the flight path. This system does not replace real grass and real field, because the ball's rolling speed there depends on many factors, however, the simulator is perfect for training beginners and keeping fit. or you can use the team using different game formats and counting the results. "
