Today's elite interior is far from the "simple" individuality. Today he is stressed, defiantly individualistic. Why? And how to create such an interior? The architect answers our questions. Vera Gerasimova

Vera Gerasimova: “Of course, the interior does not change by itself. Has changed, the customer himself has undergone a certain evolution. During the 20 years that there is a private architectural practice, people have traveled the whole world, have seen and learned a lot. Many of my clients have a great artistic taste and want to live in a home as individual as they are. Often there are several houses and apartments, and it is interesting to arrange them in different ways. It is not for nothing that LAST YEARS HAVE BEEN FUSED A LEADING DIRECTION (I do not like the word "eclecticism"): it gives room for imagination.

So, for example, the black-and-white interior of an apartment in Moscow is made in precisely this stylistic direction. It connects at first glance the unconnectable. For example, Corinthian columns, denoting the boundaries of the living room in open space, are covered with black glossy varnish. And the ceiling, broken into squares by the same lacquered black false beads, is silvered. The white openwork ornament of the stairs in the hall seems to be weightless against the background of black walls. However, it all comes together in a harmonious picture. The space in a somewhat outrageous “club” style is polyphonic, and each element here sounds harmoniously, like a musical instrument in an orchestra. (And if the same palette is used in the interior with minimalist forms, then you get a very strict interior. To whom it is close, you can try.)

IF YOUR HOUSE IS DECORATED IN A CLASSIC STYLE, IN THIS SAME STYLE, CHOOSE YOUR ROOMS AND CHILDREN. Then the unity of the interior as a whole will be preserved. I advise you to decorate children's rooms brightly with optimistic colors. A monochrome palette is good because you can enter almost any bright color here: orange, green, turquoise, pink. So, I decorated the nursery for a girl with rich pink color using wallpaper, and the boy’s nursery - green.

I have favorite styles. For example, the style of a Mediterranean country house. And this is also fusion. In my performance - for sure. Because I try to select meaningful details from the style arsenal, strengthen something to create a mood, an image. I VARY STYLE, ADJUST IT FOR A DEFINED TASK. For example, if you have a “summer” apartment on the shore of a warm sea, where there is always a lot of sun, why not make it entirely in the color of cream or ivory? Indeed, in the southern latitudes such shades on the walls look special, they are without gray reflexes (as we have in cloudy weather). I don't like pure white, I prefer to soften it. He is too straightforward. I advise you to use the gamut of ecru: with it the interior will be richer. One of my favorite styles is the chalet style. It can be a good solution for a chopped or log house. But I would advise you to move away from the brutality in the interpretation of this style (so that there is no busting of hides and horns) and use the principle of contrast. How? Here again the eclectic method itself can help, within the framework of which you can combine log walls with sophisticated classical furniture and elegant lamps. As an example, I can cite a house in the Moscow region, where, thanks to this contrast, a very intelligent and at the same time cozy interior was obtained. But if hunting trophies are dear to you and you want to show them all in the interior, you can balance everything by choosing deliberately rich carpets, fabrics, chandeliers, vases, gilded furniture. But it will be another interior story ... "
